Hammer No More the Fingers is a very unique name for a band, but the sound is something we have all heard before. They sound a bit like Hot Hot Heat, but slower and a bit pop-ish. Hammer..Fingers is the band that every hipster in skinny jeans and Chuck Taylor's will love. This is not to say that their sound isn't enjoyable.
I did happen to like the lyrics. I thought I would think them juvenile. One song in particular called "Mushrooms" is about, you guessed it, mushrooms but it's lighthearted, with a worthwhile message even if it takes hallucinogenic drugs to bring it across.
After listening to their entire self titled album, it's hard to find more words to say. It's good music. I did like it, but nothing new has been brought to the table. I think Hammer No More the Fingers would be perfect for the Fuse TV audience who is sick and tired of the screaming, whining girly men. They don't scream or whine, but seem to have the appeal for that demographic.
If this pop-rock genre isn't something you're used to, I think Hammer No More the Fingers is definitely worth giving a listen because you'll find they add something new to your music collection. But if this is your element, you might find that you've heard it all before.
