Whoever it is that plays guitar on this album should give himself/herself a huge pat on the back. His skillful and perfectly intertwined melodies blend perfectly to make this rock/alternative album upbeat and fun to listen to.
Most of the tracks on Dangerous Angel are actually catchy, ranging from a few heartfelt and light "We Still Breathe," to "Last Dance," which ends out this album on a high note. Many of the beats hark back to the rock sounds of the seventies (without all that disco stuff), especially on "Knowing You'll Be There."
The only thing Sandy Jayne's album begs for is a better blend between the instrumentals and vocals. Most of the instruments are light on their feet, while Jayne's voice bounces between heavy and sweet-sounding tones. She has the tendency to bounce between syllables instead of having fluid lyrics to the point where it almost sounds like laughing. It almost sounds forced on some tracks. She does however have a strong voice that slightly thins out in the upper register, especially in "Where Did We Go Wrong," which would do better in the middle of the album and not as the opening track.
Dangerous Angel as a whole is successful in its objective as a mix of soulful lyrics and tracks that all sound different, but a few tweaks in the blending of vocals and instruments would make this a gem to listen to.
