Graffiti: Demo - Music Review

By Jen Klee, HOT INDIE NEWS .com

Date Published: January 14, 2008

The first thing that struck me about Graffiti was "Wow, when's the last time I got someone who honestly knew how to play their instruments to review?!" Don't get me wrong, I enjoy my power chords just as well as the rest of .....well, everybody.

The strange thing about Graffiti is yes, they can play their instruments. They come up with a good hook but then they just repeat that same hook through out the song. Almost as if they acknowledge they can play, they want you to realize that, but then they just get lazy.

"Subliminal Message" actually is their first song that incorporates power chords though but again, Graffiti falls back on repetition.

The vocals are kind of whiny but that's not a huge detractor here either. After all, I am a punk rock fan.

What is the downfall of this album though is just the general feeling of laziness that comes through. I get annoyed at repetitive artists but a lot of them seem to be repetitive because they're limited in their abilities. Graffiti annoys me because again, they go out of their way to show you they have talent and then fail to use it fully.

You know a reviews bad when your complaints for it read like a high school report card.
