Brett Dennen: So Much More - Music Review

By Tingyu Shen, HOT INDIE NEWS .com

Date Published: January 10, 2008

Brett Dennen: So Much More - Music Review At first I thought Dennen was a folk-rocker like Bob Dylan, as the young man certain has the meaningful lyrics and the weird voice parts down. But after three tracks, the consistency faded, which left me unsatisfied with a promising album.

As I mentioned, Dennen wrote above average lyrics, but that didn’t last long. He abandoned his good start of folk-rock and ended up being just another pop rocker that kept singing about love. Sometimes I wonder if those pop singers have ever been in love or if they are just in love with the idea of love.

The first three songs are excellent and stunningly mature, which shows off Dennen’s potential, if he had just avoided trendy traps to sing about love, this could be a very good album.
