Bootload Of Boogie: Dig It - Music Review

Bootload of Boogie tries their best to envelop a sound as hip and funky as their name eludes to. The band members Guido on vocals and Guitars, with J Stuver on bass, and Joe Snow on drums work well together creating a young rock / grunge sound.
'I'm Not Cool' and 'I Can't Go' are both sad and riddled with angst. The former paints a vivid picture of a struggling teenager stumbling through his efforts to obtain an image that is always in front of him but he can never become and the latter has emotion that just wants to burst out.
'You'd Better Be Worth It', 'It Burns! It Burns!' and 'Lucy Lucifer' start off as typical angst ridden songs about a lover barely holding on or scorned, but then the instrumental comes in, taking the songs on completely new twists that up the ante.
'Grande Betty, Loco Lovin'' was, by far, my favorite song on the album. The drums keep a cool rhythm and the guitar riffs come in at all the right times. The lyrics jump through almost like a beat poem teetering on a precipice egging the singer to fly but it's the guitar that soars for a moment before the drums bring us back down for a steady landing.
'The Waltz', 'Song About You', 'Dig It', and 'Where Will the Doggies Breakdance Now' have more of a party, upbeat feeling exemplified by the (sorry to keep emphasizing this) guitars that keep the songs moving and progressing toward greater heights.
By far the instrumental music were what make this album so great. Bootload of Boogie is very much like an unpolished stone, the band is rough but they hold lots of promise.
