Beth Hirsch: Wholehearted - Music Review

Beth Hirsch fits into a genre all her own with elements of jazz, folk, pop, and R&B - in songs like "Indelibly You" and "Here's the Love" - thrown into the mix. All of these influences make for a range on this album that can attract a large audience. Just when I thought the album lacked in variety, songs like "Whole Hearted" and "Everybody Loves the Sunshine" (perfect for a sunny day) highly contrast each other, yet are still impressive and are great examples of the control Beth Hirsch has over her voice. "Whole Hearted" and "Love Will Come Again" are for listeners who enjoy slow jazz, easy listening, and romantic music. Hirsch's clear and low vocals and the nice accompanying instrumental music will probably make for a very enjoyable and memorable live experience. There is something ethereal about her voice, and Hirsch seems to have an effortless way of singing, much similar to the rising alternative pop singers today like Regina Spektor, while still keeping her voice clear and captivating.
