The opening track sounded promising, but was followed by a long string of disappointments until the album reached its highlight of "Come Home." Over all, the record sounds like a recycle of music from the 60's. And if it's classic rock ‘n' roll for Mr. Zagoras, he definitely looked up to the right artists, just the wrong albums. Jimi Hendrix seems to be the biggest inspiration, and it's not only because of the two covers. He seems to love "Axis: Bold as Love," which is the least representative of all Hendrix studio albums with only notable tracks "Little Wing" and "Spanish Castle Magic," with the latter covered badly.
Just like Hendrix's lesser album, "Twenty Fingers" suffers from a lack of heaviness. The lyrics sound like those written from a hippie, and why am I not surprised since Hendrix was a hippie. Although the final track "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," another Hendrix cover, mind you, features nice guitar work, Zagoras should spend less time trying to show off his skills: they are not that impressive. Instead, concentrate on writing better lyrics.
I recommend that he spend more time listening to "Are You Experienced?" and "Electric Ladyland." And please, no more sacrilegious Hendrix covers.
