The sound of the album started to get on my nerves a little bit after fifteen minutes, and the album is three times that long, especially since most of the songs sound alike. True, a good album needs consistency, but to have all the songs sound similar should not be its goal.
However, considering that it is a debut, this ten-track album is not horrible. Annie Barker's songs have intriguing titles, but lack intriguing content, as her lyric writing still needs work. She has a passable voice that seemed to be trying to imitate singers whose voices convey emotion, but she didn't realize that the lyrics have to match her voice to put the listeners in certain moods.
For example: the song "I Want" is essentially Barker trying to tell a story, try to tell the listener how you feel instead of what's going on next time please. And don't you think that a song is too short to do this? Also, when the song escalated during its chorus and she tried to sound emotional, there really is nothing going on in the story that deserves the kind of drama. Maybe this is the type of "Revolutionary Rock N' Roll" I don't fully understand.
