Another Shooting: WORT 89.9 Madison, WI

At approximately 3 AM Sunday August 5th, a man wearing a mask and hood entered the WORT station and opened fire on three DJs in the broadcast studio. Witnesses claim five shots were fired, injuring one DJ and shattering the glass between studios. The injured DJ was sent to the hospital and quickly discharged. There were no major injuries or fatalities.

After the shooting, police secured the area and did not allow entry to the premises. Due to the investigation, the station experienced radio silence before resuming normal programming at 9:38 AM the same morning. A motive is still unknown or how the assailant entered the building. Police say there is no sign of forced entry nor have a suspect in custody. Multiple volunteers arrived individually in the early hours of the morning to help get the station back on its feet and the station is back on the air. Security, of course, will now be tightened.

Obviously sending thoughts and prayers is not enough in dealing with these increasingly frequent shootings. We need change, and we need it now. We must contact our government representatives and tell them enough is enough.safe_image
