It’s not unusual for an artist to use a stage name and Phalando Lawson, AKA Mr. Flamboyant (www.facebook.com/Mr.Flamboyant1), is no exception to this practice. When he’s performing live or exiting the recording studio with a new release he bears the moniker of Mr. Flamboyant. When he’s running his own record label or publishing company he’s JLawson. When acting or modeling he’s sometimes uses his birth name, or is billed as P. Lawson. Whatever you decide to call this man you certainly can’t call him lazy.
Another thing you can call him is a team player. While he of course can work as a solo artist, Mr. Flamboyant is not averse to working with other artists. Case in point is a recent single he participated on with fellow Atlanta, Georgia singer and rapper Lady Queet. One Hell of a Day (Picture Perfect Records) was a hip hop duet that adequately showcased both of their skills on the microphone. She was the Bonnie to his Clyde, the Yin to his Yang and their creative juxtaposition to one another on this joint was point on. When one would ebb then the other would flow and so it goes.
He also works with Fulton County. Fulton County is a trio that includes DJ Taz and Kilo Ali along with Mr. Flamboyant in its lineup. He collaborated with Kilo Ali on an earlier Mr. Flamboyant solo project tagged as Flam Boy Ant (Faceoff Records) last year, and with DJ Taz, Kilo Ali and a few other artists as The DJ Taz All Stars on a tribute anthem to the Atlanta Falcons football team during the 2017 season known as Rise Up (Faceoff Records). As the Fulton County crew they have one current radio chart climbing single already in motion, Inside Out (JLawson Music Group), and an upcoming album, Reversal of Time, also coming out on Mr. Flamboyant’s JLawson Music Group label later this year.
As a man of many names, as well as a man of many talents, it’s hard to pin down what or who he’ll be getting involved with next. Pretty sure with the Fulton County drop of the Reversal of Time of time album he’ll have to dedicate a fair share of his time to promoting it. I’m also sure he’ll still find the time to keep on writing and recording, acting and modeling, teaming up or working on solo gigs, all the while overseeing the daily operations of his entertainment enterprises. Perhaps instead of calling himself Mr. Flamboyant he should’ve gone with Mr. Tireless. Nah, it doesn’t have as nice a ring to it as Mr. Flamboyant does.
