New York record producers Brian Cohen and Cristofer Arthur, who work under the name Beat Author, released their second single titled “Breathe”. It’s a soft rock/pop piece, which features singer/guitarist Melanie Munoz and drops on June 11th, 2017. It’s one of the highly anticipated tracks the Beat Author producers plan to include on their yet to be completed multi-gene debut compilation, “The Album”. For Beat Author it’s just one more step in their mission to build a platform for artists to create great quality music.
Melanie Munoz’s vocal work on “Breathe” is achingly vulnerable. It’s a tender love song that begins as a slow burn that heats up as it moves beat by beat and unfolds like an orchid blooming during time-lapse photography. The dynamic duo known as Beat Author patiently plot their production pace throughout the tune in order to allow Ms. Munoz the space to stretch out her silky smooth voice over the song’s hypnotic melody and their lush backing tracks. 
A tightly braided rhythm section is the thread that holds it all together from introduction through the final coda and cadence.
The over the top and over used 1990s Phil Collins type tom fills are eschewed for more subtle nuances in this quiet storm approach Arthur and Cohen employ in their work. It’s more cerebral than visceral and more emotional than muscular. Like a gentle breeze which may only be felt, but never seen, “Breathe” tenderly tugs at our heartstrings with every word sung in this powerful mid-tempo ballad. I believe that Beat Author (http://www.beatauthor.com) gain some well deserved recognition for their talents with their current single.
