Dead Air Republic ‘With Extreme Prejudice’ Music Review

Ottawa, Ontario rockers Dead Air Republic might be blasting more metal  than rock and roll in their EP With Extreme Prejudice. But it’s not to say that their metal isn’t charged with interesting lyrics and a bit of melodic guitar work. They have depth.

In “Just Another Bullet” the layering of heart-racing guitar licks and equally thundering percussion is nearly swept away by strong vocals and story telling. It’s easy to categorize the vocals and music bed as “angry,” however, as a listener, I felt a certain tinge of hope.

“Example 1” proved to be a standout track. I melted into the words and felt vindicated by the hard-hitting orchestration. “The Waves” and “Good At Never” are unapologetically loud and organized chaotic fever.

“Buzzkill” is another standout track. The song reaps juicy, cathartic rage. The racing guitar shreds through the song like a just-sharpened Swiss army knife. Finally, “Enough of This Mess” rounds out the EP and proves just how distinct and cohesive the entire project turned out. You won’t find a song on here that fits the norm or channels some sort of blueprint. What you will find on With Extreme Prejudice are six songs meant to be cranked up as loud as possible!
