Bad Mary ‘We Could Have Saved The World’ EP Music Review

While listening to the tracks on Bad Mary’s We Could Have Saved The World EP, a flood of images of street racers and X Games athletes filled my imagination. Bad Mary leaves no gaps – their strong punk foundation has no room for cracking and the incessant guitar strikes your ears like the constant fist pump it evokes.

“Creeper” is an excellent offering filling in any crevices missing in your alt rock library. The simple arrangements are complimented by strong vocals and shaking percussion. The track is very quick and it holds up all that it needs to before abruptly ending. It’s killer.

“Marz Attaqx” jumps right into battle and combats any boring dead air. It’s a rush of a song. I enjoyed the buildup and the elated anthemic vocals. I think you hear the Green Day influence in this song, but Bad Mary creates their own route and takes their crazy-good track to a modern level.

“Trouble” is just spellbinding. The opening thrush of raw percussion mixed with crunching guitars is stellar. It would be easy to rush into an aggressive, equally-rampant punk track here, but the band creates a bit more ebb and flow with this song’s pacing.

“Cloud 9” has a different flavor to it – much like “Trouble” they toy with the pacing and elevate their song structure. The pulsing bass has a rapture, it takes hold of the listener. Amanda Mac (vocals) presents a different side to her voice in this track and as a listener I felt the emotions she presented stuck with me much longer. The guitar riffs at the bridge were another highlight.

“Meanwhile” and “When You Think Of Me” both came across as solid examples of a consistently-strong outfit. This band really has a grip on songwriting and their overall production is tight.

Overall, We Could Have Saved The World is an exceptional release for a band wise well beyond their years. A++
