M3 Radio Finds New Direction In The New Year

Since its inception in 2003 M3Radio.com has been a resident radio station broadcasting from the Live365.com internet radio broadcasting platform. The station, dedicated to broadcasting new and independent music that was next to impossible to hear on most commercial radio stations, took to the internet to stream what they considered to be the best work of up and coming underground artists. Fast forward now to more than 10 years later where even on the internet the winds of change take their toll.

With the ringing in of 2016 Live365 sadly sent an announcement to their broadcasters that due to the recent change in the Copyright Law relating to electronic transmission royalties as well as the loss of their longtime investors that as of January 31, 2016 all stations operating on their platform would go silent. The world of internet radio was in a state of panic. Left with only the choice of going off air or going to another internet broadcasting provider M3 radio chose the latter of the two options.

M3 Radio, meet Radionomy. Like many of their colleagues broadcasting on Live365 who refused to pull the plug on their stations M3 Radio did a lot of research and discovered a few companies who could meet their needs when it came to providing a stable channel platform and a new home for the decade old internet radio pioneer. “At the end of the search,” explained M3 Radio co-founder and music director Antonio Silva, “we were able to forge a new alliance with a new company that also offered quite a few new opportunities. Radionomy is owned by Vivendi, an entertainment giant in its own right, and that has opened new doors to new audiences for us. It’s a win-win situation for both of our companies.”

Radionomy is able to offer far more music related sites to relay M3 Radio’s non-stop shows on a 24 hour, 365 day a year basis than Live365 afforded. This ability not only permits their channel to continue its dedication to their listeners and to unsigned independent artists, but it also has the added advantage of increased growth of their listening audience. The station still stands and 2016 is shaping up to be an exciting new year full of new possibilities for M3 Radio and the internet radio world at large.
