Initially, it took the 2 tractors to get the boat out of the sand.

Just when you thought you could relax. Right next to Sea Gate Beach and down a bit from Historical Coney Island,, a Cruiser, approximately 25 foot was beached while it’s owner, from Brooklyn, and a  member from the Coat Guard were shoveling out the sand so the boat could be removed.

I didn’t have my usual Sony camera so I had to take these shots with my Black Berry Curve.

I was told by a second member of the coast guard that the boat hit the jetty to our right a couple of nights ago putting a hole in it’s bow, as you can see from the picture. The buoy that floats approximately 20 ft out to sea from the jetty had a light out, during high tide, the captain of the boat could not see the rocks and hit, then began taking in water. IMG-20150924-00501By the looks of it, the boat was beaten up quite a bit by the waves. In the couple of days the boat spent on the beach during high tide, it took in a lot of sand. The owner, who lives in Brooklyn, and a member of the Coast Guard, were shoveling the large amount of sand that had built up so the boat could be moved from the beach.
