About 60 activists came out on Easter Sunday to 125th St and Adam Clayton Powell in Harlem for the People’s Resurrection rally and march.

As part of what was called Holy Week of Resistance activists felt East Sunday and the Rising up of Jesus after being crucified, would be a good way to show a Rising up and a Resurrection of the people against No New NYPD and Commissioner Bratton’s Broken Windows Policy.

We are pleading with all institutions, groups, and people of conscience to join us, on this Easter Sunday (afternoon) for a National Day of mass **direct action** against racist state violence.
**For those of us who believe in the love and justice ethic of Jesus, we will honor our faith traditions and celebrate the Resurrection as we march! #PrayingWithOurFeet
**For those of us who strive to realize both love and justice for Oppressed Persons—whether we adhere to an institutional religion or not—we will embody the People’s Resurrection!
We will RISE UP, and we will engage in mass direct action—in celebration of one of the many interpretations of the Resurrection, in radical solidarity with Black and Brown liberation, and in resistance to all forms of societal oppression!
On Easter Sunday, we will show the world that…

In NYC, we say, No to Broken Windows Policing and Yes to Safety Beyond Policing!
Speakers included Daniel Ismael Aguilar who spoke out about slavery and how they were treated. “You don’t have to be religious to believe all lives are sacred”, Daniel said.
This rally was an extension of the rally and march on Good Friday where many more people participated and took to the streets for Jesus, who was wrongfully convicted, beaten and publicly executed. “2 days later the people rose up and started a Revolution” Daniel referred to the length of time Mike Brown’s body lay on the street, which sparked many of the protests in NYC. “the people of Ferguson took to the streets, they would not bow down”.
Joshua Lopez, spoke next, about his Uncle John Collado who, in 9/2011 was coming to the aid of someone he knew who was in a fight, He grabbed the guy on top of the guy he knew, who turned out to be an undercover cop, which his Uncle had no way of knowing. The cop then , turned and shot his Uncle in the stomach and killed him.
Coalition to end Broken Windows, Josemar Trijullo, spoke next explaining to the people exactly what Broken Windows is. “Broken Windows is the obsessive focus on low level “crimes”,, they’re not even crimes. It’s actually S t r e t c h i n g the definition of crime to fit their $$ making. Josemar referred to Michelle Alexander’s The New Jim Crowe, that Broken windows in “nothing new”.
The activists then marched West on 125th St, south on Broadway through Columbia University, where they interrupted a festival of some kind, then back up Amsterdam Ave to 125th St.
