On Friday of the Holy Week, 2015, people gathered in Union Square, recalled the crucifixion of Jesus and many others in the age of Roman Empire, and linked the suffering and struggle behind it to the modern day fight for freedom, justice and equality. The crowd marched down on Broadway, carrying wooden crosses on which the names of the victims of police brutality were written and chanting “All lives will matter when black lives matter!”
