Exactly 3 months after Tamir Rice was shot dead in Cleveland Ohio, activist around the United States held candlelight vigils yesterday for the purpose of bringing awareness to the epidemic of deaths caused by law enforcement officials.
At Nicholas Naquan Heyward Jr. Park in Brooklyn, NY images and stories were shared in an intimate gathering that included family members of more than a dozen children between the ages of 4-16 that died due to police interactions.
The names of the stolen lives that were remembered included Tamir Rice (12), Briana Ojeda (11), Deaunta Farrow (12), Andy Pena Herrera (4), Dilcia Pena (16), Yong Xin Huang (16), Dakota Bright (15), Kimani Gray (16), Frankie Arzuaga (15), Cameron Tillman (14), Andy Lopez (13), Aiyana Stanley-Jones (7) and Nicholas Naquan Heyward, Jr. (13)
