Organizations like Stop MassIncarceration and OccuEvolve, one of the longest lasting groups still going from the Original Occupy Movement, put on a Press Conf today at City Hall of which many Mainstream media attended. Carl Dix, founder of Stop Mass Incarceration with Dr. Cornell West spoke to the fact that Mayor Di Blasio has, “No Right to tell us to back off on our protest” after many young brown and black people are killed everyday and there’s No haulting by Police for those incidences. Carl Dix mentioned the Homeless man sleeping in a park in Milwaukee who was killed by a Cop who was not charged wit his murder. The Cop was fired then Rehired after the Heads found “No criminal Activity”. “No New Year under this Old System, We Can’t Breathe”.
Carl Dix was later asked by he was asked by ABC News if there would still be a march despite being asked to wait by Mayor Di Blasio, until the services of the Officers were complete this weekend. Carl’s Reply was to name the names of those killed by NUPD in the History of NYC and said, “You preside over the system that does Not hold those Cops accountable, Has “NO Right to tell us, when where, How we can Protest”.
Richard Marini, read a statement from World Can’t Wait. The statement referred to the newly revealed CIA Torture report in “Black Sites and Salt Pits around the World”. “It wasn’t done by a few Rogue Agents, It was designed and directed by People at the Top, The Whitehouse, the Pentagon and the CIA”. “No one has been help accountable for these Crimes”
Sumumba Sobukwe from OccuEvolve also read a statement regarding Mayor Di Blasio and PBA leader Pat Lynch regarding their suspension of Protests. “We wholeheartedly condemn the Policy, the over aggressive, oppressive Policing that is lead by Police Comm Bill Bratton & PBA Pres, Pat Lynch. “It’s the culture that they promote that ultimately lead to the killings of the 2 Officers in Brooklyn.
