PHOTOS: Thousands Protest Through Night Even After The Official March Ended

On Saturday December 13, up to 30,000 people turned out at Washington Sq park to show Solidarity for All those, including Eric Garner and Michael Brown, who have been killed by Police in recent months. The event was so crowded people had to wait in the park until many of the demonstrators made it to the half way mark of the march near 34th Street.

The event was a permitted march which ended at 1 Police Plaza without incident, then after the official march ended people took to the streets and blocked traffic. Some marched up the East side to 125th Street, and thousands of activists shut down traffic on the Brooklyn bound side of the Brooklyn Bridge

Some drivers didn’t seem to mind as they beeped their horns in support and raised their arms in the classic “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot” stance. The night ended without much police confrontation or arrests. More protests are scheduled for this coming week.
