New York’s Burlesque Scene: Lewd and Lucky Burlesque at Lucky 13 Saloon

20131208_0000I remember about a year ago when a co-worker of mine mentioned how bummed out they would get when people wouldn’t accept their meeting invitations. So I mentioned that maybe they should entice attendees by inviting burlesque performers. Then another co-worker said “Burlesque? What are you from the 1920s? Nobody uses the word ‘burlesque’ anymore.”

Well, I’m very proud to announce that there are more than just a few of us vintage people out there that not only use the word burlesque, but on any given night an avid fan may find a wide array of burlesque shows in New York City to satisfy their curiosity.

Last week I attended my first Lewd and Lucky Burlesque performance at Lucky 13 Saloon in Park Slope Brooklyn since their Facebook page promised “The rowdiest, raunchiest, most rock and roll show in town…Lewd and Lucky is Sex, Comedy, and Rock N Roll.” They did not disappoint and I have some clips of the night in the video below to prove it!

So if you’re in the New York City area on the first or third Monday of the month and in the mood for neo-burlesque performances (an update to the traditional form of burlesque), the best rock and heavy metal tunes, professional freaks such as Rush Aaron Hicks, and genius comedians like HBO’s Angry Bob, then come out to Lewd and Lucky Burlesque at Lucky 13 Saloon in Park Slope Brooklyn.
