The Front Bottoms: Talon of the Hawk – Music Review

My 20 year old college self is overjoyed by this record. Catchy emo pop lyrics about getting stoned, heart break, and the trials and tribulations about being young and free without any real adult obligations, this New Jersey band brings me back to the day when bands like The Starting Line, The Early November and others that made up the entire Drive Thru Records roster dominated college radio.

The Front Bottoms are nostalgic and still refreshing in a place where bands try so hard not to fit into the indie mold, yet they all seem to. Talon of a Hawk is a fun, acoustic guitar driven record that is simple, clean and has an infectious sound that you can’t help but love. Though this is a sound we have all heard before (think Dashboard Confessional meets Tim Kasher but more upbeat, less depressing), The Front Bottoms created an all around great record that can get stuck in your head.
