Green Candidate Dr. Jill Stein In Two “Real” Presidential Debates This Week

Green presidential nominee Jill Stein will participate in presidential debates on Monday, October 22, and Tuesday, October 23, along with other candidates who’ve been barred from the Democratic-Republican debates sponsored by the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD).

“We’re proud of Dr. Stein’s participation in the ‘real’ debates, in which she continues to address urgent issues missing from the narrow Obama-Romney debates. These include climate change, drone warfare, bipartisan attacks on civil liberties and the U.S. Constitutional, job-killing trade pacts like the Trans-Pacific Partnership, failed drug war and racist incarceration policies, student loan

debt, the dangers of hydrofracking, off-shore-drilling, and mountaintop detonation mining, and other topics on which President Obama and Gov. Romney mostly agree,” said Budd Dickinson, secretary of the Green Party of the United States.

Debate schedule:

– Monday Oct. 22, 9:30 p.m. ET / 6:30 p.m. PT: Jill Stein will participate in Democracy Now!’s expanded online presidential debate, along with Justice Party candidate Rocky Anderson, and respond in real time to the same questions posed to Barack Obama and Mitt Romney. Amy Goodman will host. The debate will be broadcast by Free Speech TV and Link TV and livestreamed at the Democracy Now! website (http://www.democracynow.org).

– Tuesday Oct. 23, 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT: Dr. Stein will participate in a debate hosted by talk-show host Larry King and organized by the Free and Equal Elections Foundation, along with Gary Johnson (Libertarian Party), Rocky Anderson (Justice Party), and Virgil Goode (Constitution Party). Mr. King will accept debate questions in advance on Reddit. This debate will be aired on Al Jazeera, RT-America, and Ora TV (Mr. King’s online station) and simulcasted on the Green Party’s Livestream channel (http://www.livestream.com/greenpartyus). On Livestream, viewers will be able to participate in a simultaneous discussion of the debate in a chat box.

Jill Stein will be on 85% of state ballots. The Green Party has joined the League of Women Voters in calling the CPD debates a “fraud on the American people.” The CPD is owned and controlled by the Democratic and Republican parties and their corporate sponsors for the purpose of excluding other candidates and ensuring softball questions.
