The Street Dance Band featuring Tasha releases This Summer Feeling

Only several days past Labor Day 2012 the days had become noticeably cooler. Nightfall came considerably earlier. Leaves began to fall from the trees and out on the streets were the parades of kids returning to school once again. Summer was over. But a great summer always lingers in your mind like a song you just can’t get out of your head.

In a little over three minutes time their radio hit single called “This Summer Feeling”, The Street Dance Band featuring Tasha has effectively managed to capture the memories of warm summer breezes, starry summer nights, and of course, hot summer love under a full bright white moon. Their sound is a beautiful blend of R&B balanced with the groove of smooth jazz that will have your bobbing your head and your fingers or toes tapping along to the sensuous sounds coming out of your speakers as you listen to their lusty lullaby.

As stated on their web site (http://scmmusic.com) The Street Dance Band is a collection of musicians that have actively worked on various SCM Music recording sessions produced by veteran composer/producer Sir Charles Matthews and music arranger Clip Hightower. The band’s style ranges from jazz to pop to R & B. Tasha, the featured vocalist on the bands new single “This Summer Feeling”, manages the microphone like a well seasoned diva and delivers a smoky mix of melody and precise but passionate phrasing. In the overcrowded company of today’s female vocalist thisNew York City native holds her own with ease and confidence.

Tasha attended the LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts in Manhattan and counts as her credits being the former lead singer with Atlantic Records artists Kwame and A New Beginning who had, respectively, a number two and three hit record (“Ownlee Eue” and “One of the Big Boyz”). She has appeared on major network television shows including Arsenio Hall, Soul Train, Party Machine with Nia Peoples, Pump It Up with Dee Dee Barnes and BET’s Teen Summit, to name just a few.

From the sound of their single, Tasha and The Street Dance Band is a combo that could rock the rafters off the roof of any hot nightclub dance floor or serenade a sleepy late night lounge with equal ease. Artist such as these are far and few between in today’s narrowly formatted contemporary music scene.

Did I mention that their debut single was a radio hit? Well even if I did there’s more I want to tell you. Their publicist called this morning to tell me that The Street Dance Band’s “This Summer Feeling” not only debuted at #5 on the Billboard Smooth Jazz Added chart, #3 on the CMJ National Urban Adds chart and is currently #3 on the CRC National Unweighted Urban Airplay chart, #8 on the CRC National Weighted Urban Airplay chart, #250 on the CRC National Unweighted Top 30 Airplay chart and #256 on the CRC National Weighted Top 30 Airplay chart as of this week. Wow!!!!

Thus far “This Summer Feeling” appears to be the only available offering from Tasha and The Street Dance Band, but according to

the SCM record company’s web site there’s the promise of a forthcoming album titled “Blues on a Hot Summer Night”. Let’s just hope they don’t make us wait all the way to next summer before The Street Dance Band and Tasha share more of their sensual stylings because I, for one, just don’t want to wait any longer.
