Eljuri: Fuerte – Music Review

A Live music set should always start with a reggae tune. Eljuri’s latest CD gets off to a rockin start pushing as the chorus says Empuja.!! An anthem of defiance urging the complacent who drag their feet to change with striking fuzz guitar leads. Un Fosforo features tropical sounds delivering a call for illumination on this set that proves once and for all that music is the most effect form of delivering a message.

Eljuri chronicles her experience as a Latin woman of conscience and substance in her lyrics as well as her smoking hot guitar solos. She shreds with conviction and praise, a universal call to action from the left and the right, lets light this mother up and shed light on this.

On Fuerte Eljuri carryies an empowering message that makes us take stock of the situation at hand with songs of awareness introspection more than  outer strength it is inner strength and the power to defeat the demons inside ourselves in order to affect change and lead by our actions. No catchy hook can do it. She is inviting us to find it within ourselves with powerful melodies and throbbing afro-cuban percussion on tracks like Mas Fuerte and Paloma, On Victima, her intro almost feels like All Along the Watchtower bubbling up.

She certainly has Hendrix attitude and beauty in her guitar solos throughout this set. There is no lack of Punk drive and reckless abandon on tracks like Derecho with it’s neo punk hard rockin edge. This production is chock full of great music from beginning to end. The production nails the production values of it’s influences to a T and Eljuri sings with conviction, confidence and overall defiance as in the song Enferma de Ti. I’m sick of you!! An anthem for those fed up with settling.
