Tower Theater, Upper Darby, PA, 17 March 2012

They have amazed music fans world wide with their true to life detailed stage production, state of the art light show, and interlude of great classics spanning generations that can still be enjoyed today; These six well accomplished musicians combined call themselves Brit Floyd who, for the last decade have been recreating musical moments captivating their peers and their amazing talent.

A common phrase can often be asked… By the way which one is Pink? Really has nothing to do with the band themselves or for that matter any of the actual classics written or performed live but, it does some how come into play with just a simple classic phrase that can just make any music fan think hard enough to see if one can truly answer that on going question in the back of your mind.

Since Brit Floyd’s formation in the late 2000’s, they have recreated mere moments that Pink Floyd has mastered in the 70’s and 80’s with prime sound, great lights, and music that you can drift away with when you close your eyes at their shows. Defiantly not a look alike or whatever is often associated with tribute bands these days however, the whole concept behind Brit Floyd is simple, a stellar recreation of relics that have gone one to be Pink Floyd greatest music achievements spanning their career through decades.

Each tour for Brit Floyd is like a refreshing master piece assembled surrounding either a complete album or Greatest Hits that have become a mainstay in our every day lives as music fans who, adore classic rock. After one show to which I happen to catch in 2005 right here at the Tower Theater, I was hooked after the first two songs of the first set.  The amazing acoustics that the Tower Theater has for shows is superior to any in closed venue of its kind and if you are in the first say 20 rows dead center, the music will drive you into ecstasy in a spit second.

It’s not all about the music in their live shows; it is the production that visually stimulates our senses as the lights swirl around the stage, lasers of light flash across the back drop as the music is performed in great detail, one just has to be apart of this amazing show that comes around on a yearly or sometimes every 2 year basis but, is so well worth the wait.

In the middle of their USA and Canadian dates, Brit Floyd returned to Upper Darby Pa just outside of Philly to the legendary Tower Theater to perform yet another spell binding classic show for a tight fitting 3,100 fans. But, this time around the place was half full; truly disappointing when you see an empty venue; you often wonder where everyone is…? Truly an inspirational show this band does time and time again which for some is an endless journey through music. In fact if a two hour show wasn’t enough, 60 lucky fans were enlighten to a private 2 song full production sound check and meet and greet, pretty cool these days to meet 6 well established guys who portray a stellar a recreation of the real genuine master themselves Pink Floyd.

The Lights went down around 8:15 with Brit Floyd opening the first set with Shine on You Crazy Diamond from 1975’s Wish You Were Here defiantly a great opening segment to any Brit Floyd show. Other great favorites in this first set Learning to Fly, See Emily Play, Money, and Another Brick in the Wall 2.

After a great 70 minute set that featured many genuine relics that truly capture your senses musically, a quick intermission fell into our hands leaving us to take a moment and refresh and get a drink. Finally Brit Floyd returned for hour 2 which featured several songs such as Time, The Great Gig in The Sky, Have a Cigar, and Wish You Were Here. Typically no show is complete without Comfortably Numb and the grand Encore Run Like Hell.

Many of these great songs sound as if they were created just yesterday in that live setting; I don’t think any song through out Pink Floyds career you would get tired of hearing on a constant basis much like say your favorite jam or something. These songs performed live truly put the emphasis on the spectacle of the live show and how great Brit Floyd does it so uncommonly well that any fan cannot go without collecting a Live CD or DVD

No better way to see a show like this magnitude in the intimate setting of the Tower Theater and certainly this years Brit Floyd show was a spectacular much like any of their previous shows. Truly a memorable evening with Brit Floyd providing music spanning countless generations of music fans.
