TV ad of Republican Rand Paul is using images of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon after 9/11 attacks

Louisville, Kentucky – A new television ad from Republican Rand Paul is using images of a smoldering World Trade Center and the Pentagon after the Sept. 11 attacks.

Paul’s ad is a response to a recent spot by his opponent in the race for Kentucky Senate, Secretary of State Trey Grayson. Grayson said in his own ad that Paul “wonders whether 9/11 was (America’s) fault.”

Paul’s ad calling Grayson’s ad “a lie” aired this week. It shows smoke billowing from the twin towers and charred wreckage at the Pentagon. Paul says in the ad that Grayson “is using Sept. 11 to attack my integrity and my patriotism.”

Grayson’s ad showed a video clip of Paul saying that terrorist attacks are perhaps “a reaction to our presence in some of these countries.”

Calls to both campaigns were not immediately returned Tuesday.
