Steelers WR Santonio Holmes sued for alleged assault to a Woman

Steelers WR Santonio Holmes has been sued in civil court by a woman who alleged he threw a glass full of liquor at her earlier this month.

Court House News reported the suit, in which Anshonoe Mills alleged that Holmes ordered her to “get up” off a couch inside the VIP section of the Rain Night Club in Orlando on March 7. The suit alleged that Holmes and Mills tussled over placement on the couch, with Holmes claiming he had been there before her.

In the suit, Mills alleged that Holmes threw a glass filled with liquor into her face that cut her.

The suit also alleged that Holmes and members of the Orlando police department pressured Mills not to press charges because of his standing as an NFL player. Holmes, the MVP of Super Bowl XLIII, offered money to Mills, the suit said.

There’s been no comment from Holmes yet. Mills’ attorney, Jacques Cooper, told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, “We’re not really making comments in-depth about the matter at this time. We’re still looking into the matter and are waiting to hear from Mr. Holmes’ people.”

The accusation against Holmes is the second alleged incident for the Steelers this month. QB Ben Roethlisberger is skipping the start of the team’s offseason workout program today as he is investigated for allegedly committing a sexual assault in Georgia on March 5.

Roethlisberger has not been charged and has denied the allegation through his attorney, Ed Garland.
