Marie Osmond Son's Michael Blosil committed suicide jumping from his apartment

Michael Blosil, the 18-year-old son of Marie Osmond who committed suicide Friday night by jumping from his downtown Los Angeles apartment building, left a note for a woman he called his only true friend and text messaged her before he jumped, TMZ.com reports. Very shortly after the woman, who lived in Blosil’s building, arrived at his apartment and alerted his roommates about the note, they heard sirens and saw emergency vehicles arrive outside the building.

Meanwhile, Marie Osmond is in seclusion, “finding solace in her faith and family,” according to her friend, Entertainment Tonight anchor Mary Hart, who appeared on CBS’ “Early Show” this morning.

In 2007, Osmond announced that Blosil, then 16, checked into rehab for undisclosed reasons. “He had been in and out of rehab,” Hart says, “And, Marie, always looking for the silver lining, had always hoped for the best. … He was in excellent spirits. I’ve seen him throughout the years, but on this particular day, he and Marie were so excited about him attending the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in L.A. They were upbeat, and he was very happy, and seemed to be looking toward the future.”

Donny and Marie’s show at the Flamingo Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas has been suspended until further notice. “My family and I are devastated and in deep shock by the tragic loss of our dear Michael,” she said in a statement Saturday, “and ask that everyone respect out privacy during this difficult time.”
