Defensive lineman J.C. Copeland dropped his commitment to Tennessee and signed with Louisiana State University

LAGRANGE, Ga. – Troup defensive lineman J.C. Copeland pulled a reverse on the recruiting world Wednesday morning when he dropped his commitment to Tennessee and signed with LSU.

Copeland had been committed to Tennessee since the summer and even a trip to LSU last weekend failed to change his mind. But a phone call from LSU coach Les Miles earlier this week finally convinced him, he said. Only Copeland, his family and his coaches knew he was going to sign with LSU on Wednesday.

Copeland, a four-star recruit as rated by rivals.com, will join Troup fullback Brandon Worle, who stuck with his long commitment to LSU by signing with the Tigers.

Troup’s four other signees stuck to their commitments at Wednesday morning’s signing ceremony at the high school.

Corner back Cadarious Sanders signed with South Carolina; defensive back Vondree Jackson signed with South Alabama; athlete Jacorius Cotton signed with Southern Miss; and defensive back Juquante Holloway signed with Valdosta State.
