CAN A GRAPHIC NOVEL HOLD THE SECRETS TO LIVING A HAPPY, CONSEQUENCE-FREE LIFE?
–Author of the popular online comic series Least I Could Do moves his latest work to print, bringing with it a plethora of wild adventures, prurient antics, and life lessons
Love means never having to say you’re sorry. Casual relations mean never having to say anything at all! And so goes the forward thinking of Rayne Summers, the 24 year-old corporate executive at the heart of the Least I Could Do universe, a sex-obsessed narcissist who uses his charm, humor, and vivid imagination to enjoy life as much and as often as he can possibly manage.
With the latest installment of his printed collection, Least I Could Do Volume Two: Velcro Pants Are Awesome, author Ryan Sohmer opens his unique (unusual perhaps) mind by sharing a tangible world in which consequence-free living is achievable. As a former discontented journalist and reporter turned happy columnist, Sohmer hopes to remind us all that life should be fun and that we can find pleasing humor in the mundane, all while providing us with pure entertainment.
Sohmer’s printed collection, while sometimes raunchy and often offensive, tells the many captivating tales of Rayne Summers and his friends. From naked skydiving to abusing an online dating site in order to create a real life bachelor reality show, anything that can be imagined comes to life. Rayne’s witty entourage is always attempting to act as his conscience, but never to any avail. Rayne’s own happiness always comes first.
“Least I Could Do is a well-known brand online,” says Sohmer, “and it has garnered a massive online fan base. In fact the Least I Could Do website is seen by half a million people every day! It was time to come out of the online closet, and get the printed word and art on paper.”
Sohmer intends to take the first steps to reviving the failing syndicated comic industry by bringing his popular online comic series to life in print.
“It is a great shame that the world is losing such a valuable form of entertainment, but I am hoping to initiate change,” says Sohmer. “Reading a few strips, anyone will be sucked into the world of Rayne Summers.”
The bottom line? Don’t worry, read happy. And take a ride on the graphic side.
Ryan Sohmer started out as a journalist and reporter, but then quickly made the switch to become a syndicated columnist. He created the syndicated entertainment column According to Me, which appeared in more than 40 newspapers in the United States and Canada. A member of the WCA (writer’s guild of Canada) and a 2008 Schuster award winner, Sohmer started the Least I Could Do series in 2002 and has never looked back. Sohmer is also the Founder, Vice President, and Creative Director of Blind Ferret Entertainment Company. He currently resides in Montreal, Quebec.

Aw, this was a really quality post. In theory I’d like to write like this too – taking time and real effort to make a good article… but what can I say… I procrastinate alot and never seem to get something done.
