The Awards Show Will Air Live on Telemundo Thursday April 23rd

Latin music super-stars, Enrique Iglesias, Daddy Yankee, Ruben Blades y los Seis del Solar, Reik, Aventura, and Wisin y Yandel, will join the star-studded line-up of artists scheduled to perform at the 2009 Billboard Latin Music Awards, presented by State Farm. They will be joined by multi-platinum selling singer, Akon, who has confirmed to appear on the event, in addition to the all-male dance troupe JabbaWockeeZ. The awards show will take place on Thursday, April 23 at 7PM/6c from The BankUnited Center at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, and will air live in High Definition on Telemundo, the first Hispanic network to broadcast in true HD.

After five years of serving as Panama’s Minister of Tourism, salsa icon, Ruben Blades, has selected this prestigious event to make his long-awaited comeback, marking the 25th anniversary of the band Los Seis del Solar. The star-studded special will also feature one of the most awaited acts, an electrifying combination of three great urban music stars, Aventura, Akon and Wisin y Yandel, who will unite in an unforgettable musical performance. Viewers will also be treated to a historic performance by Latin mega star Enrique Iglesias, an on-stage surprise by Daddy Yankee, who will receive the Billboard Spirit of Hope Award, and a special live presentation by Mexican group, Reik.

These artists will share the stage with previously announced performers, Paulina Rubio, Don Omar, Banda El Recodo, Cristian Castro and La Quinta Estacion. Carlos Santana, this year’s recipient of the Billboard Lifetime Achievement Award, will also appear on the awards show, hosted by Telemundo personalities Aylin Mujica (Sin Senos no hay Paraiso) and Alan Tacher (Levantate).
